Events at Leisureland

Leisurelands' Events Centre is one of Galway's finest venues for events. The venue is suitable for various events including concerts, exhibitions, conferences or sporting events.

With an area of 633 metres squared (excluding large stage area & balcony), and the capacity to hold 1,010 for seated events and 1,200 for standing events our Centre is the ideal location for any show. See "In the Spotlight" on our home page for details of upcoming events.

It involves three community music groups, three marine specialists (Garry Kendellen, Dr. Maria Vittoria Marra, Dr. Joao Frias) and one cellist/composer (Naomi Berrill).

Join the National Symphony Orchestra and a star-studded cast for the opening concert of Cellissimo 2024 in Leisureland, a concert which also sits at the heart of the Songs of Travel strand. The outstanding German cellist Alban Gerhardt will interpret Shostakovich’s momentous Second Cello Concerto and we will also hear the world premiere of a brand-new concerto by Djuro Zivkovic for cello, piano and orchestra, performed by Swedish cellist Jakob Koranyi and our very own artistic director Finghin Collins. Former President of Ireland and Chair of the Elders Mary Robinson will give an address on climate justice while conductor Martyn Brabbins will wrap up proceedings with Mendelssohn’s “Calm Seas and Prosperous Voyage”.

We are so proud to present the Galway debut of one of Galway’s greatest musicians, the unique Eimear Noone. We celebrate Eimear’s amazing global achievements as trailblazing composer and conductor with an eclectic programme of classical and contemporary music from the worlds of film and gaming. Our cello soloist is another proud Galway musician – the unstoppable Adrian Mantu of the ConTempo Quartet. Featuring sweeping scores from critically acclaimed films such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, August Rush, and Eimear’s own The Canterville Ghost, as well as world premieres of Eimear’s upcoming works, this promises to be an unforgettable concert by the National Symphony Orchestra.

Towards the end of the evening, cellists of all ages and abilities – children, students, amateurs, professionals – join Cello Ireland and our international students to create a mammoth cello orchestra.

Jimmy Carr is going back on tour with his brand-new show ‘Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny’.   Jimmy Carr embarks on a nationwide Irish tour from May 2024 with dates at 3Olympia Theatre, Dublin, Leisureland, Galway, Gleneagle INEC Arena, Killarney and Opera House, Cork.  There will be two shows per night, starting at 7.00pm and 9.30pm. The Leisureland Theatre is one of Galway’s finest venues suitable for a variety of events including concerts, exhibitions, conferences or sporting events. With the capacity to hold 1,020 seating or 1,200 standing the Leisureland Theatre is the ideal location for any show or event. Not only the home to the famous Trad on The Prom, Leisureland has been host to artists such as Christy Moore, Daniel O Donnell, Nelly to Comedians such as The 2 Johnnies, Mario Rosenstock and John Bishop to events such as The Wedding Expo, Darkness into Light and many more.

Leisureland offers a range of spacious rooms which can be rented for various events such as meetings, classes etc.
